Recovery from a traumatic injury is challenging for patients and their loved ones. Unlike treatment for other types of illnesses, this hospitalization was not expected. It can be overwhelming to suddenly be meeting a medical team and hearing medical information you may not be familiar with.
Additionally, we know that it is difficult to process complex information after experiencing a traumatic event. This may be a new experience for you, but Cook County Trauma & Burn is one of the oldest and busiest trauma centers in the country, so please trust you are in good hands.
We hope this information can help ease the burden of both your practical and emotional needs while you begin the recovery process.
